Today students participated in a PowerPoint presentation by following along with their AVID Strategies at a Glance worksheet.
Today we focused on Marking the Text for Science. We discussed the process and then practiced it together.
We participated in a PopCorn Read Aloud of "Bottle Biospheres" (an introduction to our Closed Bottle Biosphere Lab/Project). Prior to reading, the students NUMBERED their paragraphs (Step 1). We then perused the article noting any visuals including italicized words and pictures. As we read aloud together in class, we stopped at the end of each paragraph to go back through the text and CIRCLE key terms, etc...
After completing Step 2 of Marking the Text together as a class, the students had 6 - 10 minutes to silently read and practice Step 3, UNDERLINING, on their own.
Tomorrow we will use the same text to practice Writing in the Margins.
