Students were given the entire period to study for Quiz #7 and get their ISN together for tomorrow. All work that has been submitted has now been passed back to them with feedback.
We spent about 3 minutes going over AGAIN what a SIX WORD MEMOIR assignment should look like.
ISN Check 10 is due tomorrow and there will be an OPEN NOTE Quiz.
Today students took notes on the Properties of Matter as a review (from 5th grade).
After completing the notes (and class discussion), students had 15+ minutes to complete a simple cut 'n paste graphic organizer of the properties of matter.
This assignment will not be due until ISN Check 11 is due (after Spring Break).
Today students took notes on Diamond and Graphite. We then built extended structure of Graphite by building on hexagon with our partner then incorporating our hexagon into the class sheet of graphite.
After building Graphite, students had about 20 minutes to work on completing the Diamond vs Graphite reading assignment and a Venn Diagram.
Students are to turn-in the completed lab (notes, reading assignment, and Venn Diagram) by Monday, 3/25/19.
Today is a shortened day due to OPEN HOUSE!
Today we began Investigation #14 and built or Diamond "Molecules." We discussed the special bonding pattern (Tetrahedral) that happens with the Diamond and each student got to build a Tetrahedron and then connect it to the others in their group.
Tomorrow we complete this lab by building Graphite, taking some notes, and drawing our models of Diamond and Graphite.
Each period today had AT LEAST 10 minutes of time to work on getting their ISN CHECK 10 in order for turn-in on 3/27/18.

Today students worked in their groups to build molecules out of candy and document their observations. They also used the ChromeBooks to research additional information about other ways to model elements, atoms, and molecules.
