Today students were to reflect on their experiences (good and bad) in Science during Trimester II. In keeping with our "Growth Mindset" it is important to recognize how we have grown and where we can continue to make improvements. It is my goal to help students become self-regulated learners and one way that I help them toward this goal is by asking them to reflect and citing evidence to support their reflection.
I apologize for not posting Monday and Tuesday of this week sooner. I don't believe in excuses, however, I am no longer able to access my website from the HMS server (I have to jump through some hoops to clear my site certificate with the District Office) so this means that I must post once I am home from work. Home from work has been 7:30ish since I have been staying at school well passed 6 pm grading all of the late work submissions for report cards which were due today. Hopefully both of these issues will resolve ASAP!
Today students spent 15 minutes participating in Peer Review of ISN Check 07.
After this, students had 30+ minutes to continue working toward completing their Study Guide for the Final Exam scheduled for 2/23/18.
All late work is also due 2/23/18.
Today students were given a study guide to help them prepare for their TRI II FINAL EXAM on Friday, 2/23/18.
They were given the entire period to work toward completing the study guide, ISN Check 07, or latework.
ISN Check 07 is due tomorrow.
The FINAL EXAM is on Friday, 2/23/18.
All Latework for TRI II is also due on Friday, 2/23/18.
Report cards will go home next week.
Today students reviewed ISN Check 07. We discussed each item including how and when to submit late work for Trimester II.
After going over ISN Check 07, students voted on the contents of their Bottle Biosphere Build for their class. I had them copy a data table into their ISN on page 79.
I then asked them to draw a model of their Bottle Biosphere Build including a list of the Biotic and Abiotic Factors that we voted on. I did this in real time with them. You can see each drawing I completed in class time today. Their model should look like mine - full color and labeled.
Today students participated in Socratic Seminar on Building our Bottle Biosphere. Since students are just learning the rules and how to participate, we will be continuing our seminar tomorrow to get deeper into the content.
Today students were asked to review two handouts about Socratic Seminar and get their ISN in order. I posted all of the work we have done since ISN Check 06 and numbered the pages so that students could see exactly where to place everything in their notebooks. Students had the entire period to get prepared.
Homework for tonight is to study all of the Bottle Biosphere notes and Socratic Seminar Procedures in preparation for tomorrow's Socratic Seminar.
